August Video Spotlight: SYEP

This month’s Video Spotlight focuses on Mayor Adrian Fenty’s Summer Youth Employment Program.

Hear first hand accounts from youth involved in the program:

James from City Arts DC: “I plan on bettering my skills through the Summer Youth Employment Program and… add[ing] things to the community to help it stand out.”

Daniel from City Arts DC: “…it’s shown me that art is beautiful, especially when you put it in a public space. I hope to learn that work is hard, but it’s worth it.”

Chelsea from Capitol Movement: “I hope to gain an appreciation of different forms of dance, and to gain an appreciation for nonprofit arts organizations.”

Michael from City Dance DC: “I chose to work with the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities mainly because they help a lot of  arts organizations and the arts…as an aspiring artist, I really appreciate it.”

Thanks to these individuals and organizations for participating in a program that incorporates the arts into these fantastic kids’ summer!
