A recent article in the Philadelphia Inquirer covered a debate growing in the community as to what defines the creative economy. With the Global Creative Economy Convergence Summit coming up next week, this debate couldn’t be more timely.
“If you ask 11 people their definition of creative industries, you’re going to get 11 different definitions,” said Kelly Lee, president and chief executive officer of Innovation Philadelphia, an economic-development agency focused on supporting and growing the region’s creative economy.
While the article expands the definition to include architects, engineers, and IT wizards, others argue this is too broad.
So we’d like to know: What does the creative economy mean for you in the District? Who is included? What resources should we tap into? What would you like to see happen creatively around D.C.?
