DC-area native Anne Truitt‘s exhibit, Perception and Reflection, opens tonight at the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden. This is the first major exhibit of Truitt’s since 1974, and features two- and three- dimensional works spanning her 50-year career.

Tonight’s opening event, Remembering Things Past: A Conversation Celebrating Anne Truitt is a discussion led by Tim Gunn, chief creative officer of Liz Claiborne and a former student of Truitt. Gunn will be joined by artist Martin Puryear, filmmaker Jem Cohen, photographer John Gossage, and associate curator Kristen Hileman in sharing their perspectives on Truitt’s career as an artist, professor, and author. The event is free and starts at 7 pm, with tickets distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis starting at 5:45 pm in the lobby.
