CAMP at DCYOP

The DC Youth Orchestra will be offering band and strings day camps this summer for students with at least one year experience playing their instruments. In addition, there will be evening classes for beginner students.  See below for details and go to www.dcyop.org to register.

BAND CAMP – June 20 – July 4
Band Camp is open to all rising 7th, 8th, and 9th graders, who have at least one year of playing experience on their band instrument. Camp learning includes band rehearsals, marching band, music theory, sectionals, master classes, and fundamentals.
Camp Hours: 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
Cost: DC Residents $350, MD/VA $425 (financial aid available for those in need)
Performance: July 3rd
Parade Performance: July 4th

STRINGS CAMP – June 20 – July 4
Strings Camp is open to all rising 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th graders who have at least one year of playing experience on violin, viola, cello, or string bass. Camp learning includes orchestra rehearsals, string techniques, music theory, sectionals, master classes, and fundamentals.
Camp Hours: 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
Cost: DC Residents $350, MD/VA $425 (financial aid available for those in need)
Performance: July 3rd
Outdoor Performance: July 4th

EXTENDED HOURS – June 21 – July 1
8:00-9:30 a.m. and 3:30-5:00 p.m.
Cost: $145 DC/MD/VA

BEGINNER CLASSES – July 11 – July 29
Beginning classes are open to all students age 8 and above to learn Violin, Viola, Cello, Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone, Trumpet, or Percussion. The summer session is a more intense study and not recommended for students under 8 years.
Students are expected to participate in daily classes and perform at the end-of-session concert.
Class Days: Monday – Thursday
Summer Concert: Friday, July 29
New Beginners: 6:00-7:00 p.m.
Beginners: 7:00-8:00 p.m.
Cost: DC Residents $200, MD/VA $275 (financial aid available for those in need)
