This year’s festival will salute the world of hip hop with on the streets of D.C! Performance groups and individuals in the areas of dancers, emcees, B-boys, DJ’s, go-go, graffiti, and more are encouraged to apply.
“The DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities believes that promoting the authenticity of hip hop will shed a positive light on an art form that is often associated with negativity in the media. In order to promote a sense of unity throughout the city and to showcase the origins and influences of this American culture on other artistic genres, it’s important to have all disciplines apply. I am really looking forward to seeing all these diverse groups come together to create one movement throughout the City.” says Interim Director, Ayris T. Scales.
