The 9/11 Arts Project is a collaboration of artists of all kinds, social activists, non-profits and interfaith groups in the metro DC area that explores individual, community and global healing 10 years after 9/11. We are working to foster a community dialogue sparked by the arts and set to take place throughout the year, beginning 9/11/2011.
Go to www.911artsproject.com to read more about it, find out who is involved so far, and the many ways in which groups and individuals are invited to join the project.
As part of the project, we want to make it possible for venues that may not traditionally show art, manage exhibitions, or feature performers to open up their spaces and get involved. As both non-traditional and established venues become available, curators will have access to The 9/11 Arts Project’s bank of artists’ images and proposed events/exhibitions, from which they can put together an event or match with an available venue. We want to make this as easy as possible for the artists, curators, and venues alike.
If you’d like to submit to the Art Bank, it’s free and easy:
• Send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org, with the subject line “911 Art Bank.” Please include your name, phone number, and a link to your website. You may also send either a small video, no more than 3 digital images that are representative of the type of work you would like to present, or an exhibition/event proposal.
• Tell us what your ideas are for the artwork or event you’d like to contribute in 500 words or less.
• The deadline is July 15, 2011. Note: There is no submission fee.
We’ll get in touch with you if we need more information or if a curator and/or venue selects your work!
