We would be honored for you, your family and friends to join us at the Partners in the Dream Ribbon Cutting Ceremony, the official kick-off event of the dedication week of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Dedication.

The program includes The Honorable Mayor Vincent Gray, The Honorable Eleanor Holmes Norton, the nationally recognized Ballou High School Marching Band, and other special guests. It will be hosted by television’s John Schriffen of NBC 4.

Location: Walter E. Washington Convention Center, Exhibit Hall A
Time: Thursday, August 25, 2:00 p.m. to 4:00pm, Ribbon Cutting at 3:00pm
Attire: Casual
Cost: Free and open to the public
Other: Public Expo including information booths, performances and a tribute to the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King


The Partners in the Dream Community Stage provides performers from all over the country to share their talents and to express their gratitude to Dr. King through poetry, dance and song. Performers will include the Martin Luther King, Jr. High School Band, Batala (Afro-Brazilian Drum Corps), Christylze Bacon, and others!

Thursday, August 25, 2011: 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Friday, August 26, 2011: 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Saturday, August 27, 2011: 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Sunday, August 28, 2011: 2:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
