DC Public Library in Search of Artists

The teen summer reading committee of DC Public Library is searching for artists and educators to lead workshops or to perform at various library locations throughout the summer of 2012. We are hosting a vendor showcase on Wednesday, October 12, 2011 from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Library so that potential artists/educators may display display their talents and present workshops to DC Public Library staff for consideration as a 2012 teen summer reading program.

The teen summer reading program will take place between June and August of 2012. Our targeted audience members are District teens, ages 12 to 19. The teen summer reading committee will hire persons and organizations whose knowledge and skills meet the needs of District teens and whose workshops and performances are relevant.

We request that interested parties submit via email a declaration of
intent, resume, and price quote for their performances/workshops. At the showcase, parties should be prepared to give a performance or lead a workshop that would be appropriate and engaging for an audience of teens. Please email documents and information to Jamila Felton, Librarian, Jamila.Felton@dc.gov, no later than September 30, 2011.
