Students under guidance of Ward 5 poet will sign books of poems at CBCF Author’s Pavillion, Sat, Sep 24

I am a poet/educator who lives in Ward 5 of the District. During the summer I involved over 50 students in poetry/songwriting and publishing workshops through my organization, Do The Write Thing of DC (a District nonprofit whose 501(c)(3) application is pending). The students, age 14-15, wrote over 200 poems under my guidance. A 100-page book of poems was published in August. Six of these students will be signing copies of the book (BLACK FLAMES) during the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation’s (CBCF) Annual Legislative Conference at the Author’s Pavillion (DC Convention Center), on Saturday, Sep 24. This is quite an honor for my students. The event is open free to the public.
